 　　During a meeting in the Senate1 they surrounded him and raised their daggers2 to stab3 him.

　　在罗马元老院的一次会议中他们突然围住他并用匕首向他刺去。

　　Caesar defended himself.

　　凯撒进行反抗，

　　But when, among his assailants, he caught sight of Brutus, he is reported to have said: "You too, Brutus, my son?"

　　但是当他一眼卡键布鲁图时，据说他说了这样一句话：“你也在内吗，我的孩子？”

　　and then let them strike him down, without making any further attempts to resist4. This happened in 44 BC.

　　他便不加反抗，任凭攻击者把自己刺死，这是在公元前44年。

　　After July comes August. Caesar Octavianus Augustus was Caesar's adoptive son.

　　7月过后是8月。凯撒.屋大维.奥古斯都（Augustus）是凯撒的养子。

　　Having fought for a long time against a number of generals on land and at sea, he finally succeeded in becoming the sole5 ruler of the empire in 31 BC,

　　and so became the first to hold the title of Roman Emperor.

　　Since one month had been named after Julius Caesar, Augustus was given one too.

　　He had certainly earned it.

　　他确实当之无愧。

　　He may not have been extraordinary like Caesar, but he was a fair and prudent6 man who controlled himself at all times and so had earned the right to control others.

　　他不是一个像凯撒那样出类拔萃的人物，而是一个非常公正、非常审慎的人，他能够很好地控制住自己并因此也就有权去控制别人。

　　It is said that he never gave an order or made a decision in anger.
