第十章 代词 连接代词（Conjunctive Pronouns)

　　1.疑问代词引起从句时称为连接代词，可以用来引起主语从句(a)、宾语从句(b)和表语从句(c)：

　　a.What happened that night remains a mystery.

　　那天夜里发生了什么事，一直是个谜。

　　It hasn't been decided who will be sent there.

　　派谁去还没有决定。

　　b. I don't know who did it?

　　我不知道这是谁干的。

　　I wondered what he meant to do.

　　我不知道他打算干什么。

　　c. The problem is who can head the delegation.

　　问题是谁能带领这个代表团。

　　The question is what we should do next.

　　问题是下一步我们该怎么办。

　　2.what可用于特殊意义，表示the thing which(……的东西)，可作：

　　1)主语：

　　What she lacks is experience.

　　她缺的是经验。

　　What I say goes.

　　我说了算。

　　2)宾语作介词的宾语：

　　Show me what you bought.

　　把你买的东西拿给我看看。

　　I was much impressed by what she said.

　　她说的话给我留下很深的印象。

　　3)表语：

　　That's what we ought to do.

　　这是我们应该做的。

　　This was what I heard.

　　这是我听到的情况。

　　3.这种what，由于仿佛带有一个关系从句，称为关系代词型的what(Relative what)。此外who(m)ever，whatever，whichever也是连接代词，分别表示“不管是谁”，“不管什么”，“不管哪个”，在句中可引起从句，作：

　　1)主语：

　　Whatever she did was right.

　　她做的一切都是对的。

　　Whoever makes mistakes must correct them.

　　谁犯了错都应改正。

　　2)宾语：

　　These animals will eat whatever they can find.

　　这些动物找到什么吃什么。

　　Take whichever seat you like.

　　你愿意坐哪个座位就坐哪个座位。
