people 是一个只表示复数意义的可数名词，可以说 some people(一些人), many people (许多人)等，但不能说 a people 或 one people。如：

Some people react badly to fish. 有些人吃鱼后有很强的不良反应。

It’s dangerous that so many people have guns. 这么多人有枪那是很危险的。

person表示“人”，是可数名词，可以说a person (1个人)或three persons (3 个人)等。

An architect is a person who designs buildings. 建筑师是搞建筑设计的人。

More than one person is involved in this. 与此事有牵连的人不止一个。

Only one person can do the job, namely you. 只有一个人能做这事，那就是你。

It takes four persons to play bridge. 桥牌要4个人玩。
