2021年中央一号文件2月21日发布，提出全面推进乡村振兴，加快农业农村现代化。文件明确了2021年以及未来五年农业农村工作的目标任务。
China unveiled its "No. 1 central document" for 2021 on Feb 21, stressing the efforts to comprehensively push forward rural vitalization and accelerate the modernization of agriculture and rural areas. The document clearly lists the targets and tasks concerning agriculture and rural areas for 2021, as well as a broader vision for the period up to 2025.

2021年中央一号文件是在“三农”工作重心从脱贫攻坚向全面推进乡村振兴历史性转移的大背景下，党中央、国务院作出的重大部署，对促进农业高质高效、乡村宜居宜业、农民富裕富足有重大指导意义，将为全面建设社会主义现代化国家开好局、起好步提供坚强有力的政策支撑。
没有农业农村现代化，就没有整个国家的现代化。将“农村现代化”与“农业现代化”一并作为“三农”工作的总目标，成为中央一号文件重要的指导思想。中央一号文件一个突出亮点是把农业现代化和农村现代化进行一体设计、一并推进，对农业现代化提出了明确的时间节点目标，明确了农业现代化分步实施、梯次推进的时间表。文件提出把农业现代化示范区作为推进农业现代化的重要抓手，明确到2025年创建500个左右示范区，形成梯次推进农业现代化的格局。同时，通过乡村建设行动，让乡村面貌发生显著变化，乡村发展活力充分激发，乡村文明程度得到新提升，农村发展安全保障更加有力，农民获得感、幸福感、安全感明显提高。
