学生疑因“毒地”身体异常

After the "poisonous land" case in Changzhou, Jiangsu province, hit the headlines, students in another school in the same province recently also reported symptoms such as bleeding from their noses to body itching and skin peeling.

江苏常州“毒地”事件被曝光后迅速占领媒体头条，而近日江苏省另一所学校也被曝出学生出现身体发痒、皮肤蜕皮、流鼻血等症状。

这所学校的学生表示，闻到刺激性气味(pungent smell)，疑来自附近化工厂(neighboring chemical plants)。当地政府并未否认有异味污染物("peculiar smell" pollution)，并要求附近化工厂全部停产(order a full shutdown of the plants)。

“毒地”事件("poisonous land" case)的曝光给我们再次敲响警钟。一些环境监管部门(environment watchdogs)未能充分履行职责，及时发现环境中的危害(detect environmental hazards)，面对污染，我们一刻也不能懈怠。
