二、“确定数量”的单词或短语作主语

1.“分数，百分数+of+名词”作主语时，谓语动词由后面的名词或代词决定。

Two thirds of water in the area has been polluted.

这片区域三分之二的水都被污染了。（water用单数）

Two thirds of the students in this class are girls.

这个班三分之二的学生是女孩。（students用复数）

About 70 percent of the workers in that factory are young people.

那家工厂 70％的工人是年轻人。（workers用复数）

Around 10 percent of the forest is destroyed each year.

每年大约有10%的森林被毁。（forest用单数）

2.四则运算

（1）两数相减、相除，谓语用单数。

Eight minus three is/makes five=Three from eight leaves five.（8-3=5）

Ten divided by two is five.（10÷2=5）

（2）两数相加、相乘，谓语可用单数或复数。

Seven and three is/are ten.（7+3=10）

Three times five is/are fifteen.（3×5=15）

3.“each of+复数名词或代词” 作主语时，谓语动词用单数。

Each of the two boys was carrying a suitcase.两个男孩进来，每人提着一只箱子。

Each of the students has his own desk.每个学生都有自己的课桌。

Each of them has got ready for the picnic.他们每人都为野餐做好了准备。

Each of us was deeply frightened.我们个个都惊恐万分。

【比较】

①Each of you has something to say.（each作主语，谓语动词用单数）

②We each have something to say.（we作主语，each作同位语，谓语动词用复数）

4.“kind of，pair of，glass of+名词”作主语时，谓语动词由kind，pair，glass的形式决定。

This pair of shoes is Tom’s.这双鞋是汤姆的。

Three pairs of shoes have been prepared for the climbing.为这次爬山准备了三双鞋。

A glass of milk is OK.一杯牛奶足矣。

There are two glasses of water on the table.桌上有两杯水。

5.none of+名词

（1）“none of+不可数名词”作主语时，谓语动词用单数。

None of the land has become desert.这些土地都没有变成沙漠。

None of money is mine.这笔钱没有一点是我的。

（2）“none of+复数名词或代词”作主语时，谓语动词用单数或复数。

None of the telephones is/are working.没有一部电话是好的。

None of us has/have been to America.我们都没去过美国。

6.时间、距离、金钱作主语时，谓语动词用单数。

Ten years is a long time.十年是一段很长的时间。

One hundred miles was covered in a single night.一夜走完一百英里。

The one dollar and eighty-seven cents was all Della had saved.

那一美元八十七美分是戴拉的全部积蓄。
