五、特殊数词的用法

1.dozen

（1）意为“12个，1打”，前有基数词时不用复数，可以省略of。

two dozen （of）eggs 两打鸡蛋　　　two dozen pencils 两打铅笔

dozens of eggs 几打鸡蛋　　　　　　a dozen pieces 很多片

several dozen socks 几打袜子

（2）在人称代词、指示代词、物主代词前，of不可省。

a dozen of them 他们中十二个

two dozen of these books 这些书中的两打

a dozen of your eggs 你的一打鸡蛋

（3）泛指时dozens后的of不可省。

many/several/a few dozens of 数打

dozens of people 几十个人

2.score

（1）意为“20个”，前有基数词时不用复数，一般不省略of。

three score of eggs 六十只鸡蛋

several scores of ships 好几十条船

a score of times 许多次

a score of them 他们中的二十个

two score of these books 这些书中的四十本

（2）泛指时用复数

scores and scores of people 许多人

3.“大约数”的表达

（1）大于某数的表示法：用more than，over，or more

more than/over fifty people 五十多个人

children of fourteen and over 十四岁和十四岁以上的少年

sixty students or more 六十或六十多个学生

（2）小于某数的表示：用less than，under，almost，nearly，below

It cost me less than 10 pounds.我买它花了不到10英镑。

Children under six years old are admitted free.未满6岁的儿童可免费入场。

It’s nearly/almost 10 o’clock.快10点了。

The temperature is five degrees below zero.温度是零下5度。

（3）其他表示：用or，or so，about，around，round，some，more or less

I’ll come back in three or four days.我过三四天就回来。

We stayed an hour or so.我们停留了一个小时左右。

It will cost around/round/about 100 dollars.那大概要花100美元。

Some 100 people attended the meeting.大约100人参加了会议。

I read more or less forty pages last night.我昨晚看了大约40页。

【提示】 “一两分钟”通常用a minute or two或one or two minutes。

1.【浙江】I like this jacket better than that one，but it costs almost three times________.

【答案】A 倍数表达方式之一就是“倍数+as ...as结构”。此句中第二个as和后面的内容都省略了。补充完整应该是...as much as that one。“钱多”概念应该用much。故选A。

【答案】D 句意：她到书店买了数十本书。表示约数时用“数词的复数形式+of”结构。

【答案】D 句意：这个公司过去有二十台笔记本电脑，但只有1/3能正常使用。现在我们有六十台可以使用。由but前的分句中had判断知句子应用一般过去时。分数（1/3）作主语时谓语动词根据分数所代表的名词而定；句中的1/3代指computers，故谓语动词用复数。故选D。

【答案】C 句意：那个地区五分之二的土地都覆盖着草地和树木。分数的分子用基数词，分母用序数词表示。如果分子大于1，序数词后加-s。分数和百分数做主语时，谓语动词的形式取决于分数和百分数后的名词。句子中的主语land是单数，所以谓语动词要用is covered.故选C。

5.【湖北】What a table！ I’ve never seen such a thing before.It is________it is long.

【答案】C 倍数的表达方式之一：A+is+倍数+as+adj.+as+B，意为“A是B的……倍”。故选C。

【答案】A 句意：这家工厂每年生产50万双鞋，其中80％销往国外。80％ of which指的是80％ of the shoes，其中80％是百分数，作定语从句的主语。故选A。
