中国人最易误解的话第13期:你的鼻子是腊制的吗?

　　She is a nose of wax.

　　(误译)她的鼻子是腊制的义鼻。

　　(正译)她没有主见。

　　典故：

　　汉语中，我们要说一个人“没有主见”时，常说他“耳根子软”，你知道英语里是怎么说的吗? 英语中把“耳朵”和“鼻子”错位了，说成a nose of wax。Are you a nose of wax?(你是一个没有主见的人吗?)

　　《牛津英语大词典》把a nose of wax解释为a personeasily influenced, one of a weak character(无主见的人、易受摆布的人)。早在1532年，这个短语就出现在书面用语中。现在，这个短语不太常用，通常只有在最高法院的称述中才能听到这个短语。

　　有关nose的短语还有很多，例如：nose to nose(面对面)、get up one's nose(使某人非常生气)、keep one's nose clean(行为检点，不做违法的事)。

　　有主见：
