Discover the results of The Independent Photographer's photo contest, that took place in October 2019, and that was organized around the theme ‘People’. From all the corners of the world, across all cultures and borders: the People Photography Award aimed to discover and celebrate the diversity of the human race.

Competition Judge was Magdalena Herrera. Born in Havana to a family of artists, Magdalena Herrera studied fine art and art history at the Sorbonne in Paris before starting her career as a photographer and art director.

She has worked in books, print, and magazines, spending ten years as Art Director and head of the photo department at National Geographic before joining Geo France as Director of Photography.

Her experience and her eye for photography mean that she is regularly solicited as a jury member at international photography competitions.
