　　自1983年，希望工程(Project Hope)已经解决了国家的一些最紧迫的问题。这些问题包括儿童心脏缺陷、糖尿病(diabetes)、艾滋病和护士教育，其短期的目标是在一些贫困县建立补助金项目，长期目标集中在确保所有中国孩子享受受教育的基本权利。目前希望工程在中国开展了若干个项目，包括肿瘤学(oncology)培训、农村卫生保健提供者教育、儿童营养汁划、护士培训等。
