“中国是世界上最古老的文明之一。”句中 “是”说明这是一个主系表结构的句子。最古老：the most ancient。“…之一”：on of +名词的复数。所以第一句话就是：China is one of the most ancient cultures in the world.“构成现代世界基础的许多元素都起源于中国。” 主干是“元素起源于中国”这里起源可用 come from/derive from/originate from/stem from 等，其他的都是定语，“现代世界基础”就是“现代世界的基础”，“A 的 B”翻译过来就是“B of A”,定语中有动词“构成”可将它翻译成定语从句：The various elements which make up of the foundation of modern world derives from China. 还可以省略成分词作定语后置：The various elements making up of the foundation of modern world derives from China.“中国现在拥有世界上最快的经济并正经历着一次新的工业革命。”“经历”可用 experience/ go through/ undergo 等，“新的工业革命”就是：new industrial revolution。全句是：Nowadays China possesses the rapidest economy of the world, at the same time, it is undergoing a new industrial revolution.“中国还启动了雄心勃勃的太空探索计划，其中包括到 2020 年建成一个太空站。”主干是“中国启动了计划”，翻译过来就是：China started a project. 其余都是修饰语。整句话可译为：China also started an ambitious project of space exploration including one space station built in 2020. 其中，“built in 2020.”又是定语从句省略成分词做定语的情况。“目前，中国是世界最大的出口国之一，并正在吸引大量外国投资。同时，它也在海外投资 10 亿美元。”这个句子较长，但我们可以找出逻辑关系，它一边吸收投资一边自己投资，我们可以用“while”这个词，表转折也表进行。故可译为：At present, China is one of the biggest exporting countries.It is absorbing a large amount of investment while investing 1billion dollars overseas. 最后一句“2011 年，中国超越日本成为世界第二大经济体。”中有两个动词，我们可以将它们译成并列句：China surpassed Japan and became the second largest economic entity in the world.
