你因为拖延工作被老板批评过吗？

该如何和老板解释呢？

来听今天的讲解:

A: You wanted to see me?

是您找我吗？

B: Yes, I did. Have a seat. I want to talk to you about the project.

是的，坐吧，我想跟你谈谈项目的情况。

A: I know I’m a little late in getting that report to you, but I’ve been pulling out the stops to get it done.

我知道我给报告的时间有些晚了，不过我正在倾尽全力在做这个报告。

B: But it’s still not done, is it? You know that the deadline for the next milestone of the project was this past Monday.

不过到现在还是没有完，对吗?你知道的，项目下一个里程碑式的阶段应该是过去的这个周一完成。

A: Yes, I know, but the scope of the project turned out to be a lot bigger than I had anticipated. And, they just didn’t allocate enough resources for something this size. Is there any way we can push back the deadline by a week?

是的，我承认，不过项目的工作内容要比我原来想象的多。而且象这样大的项目所需要的资源都没有分配足。我们是否有可能将最后期限再向后推一周？

B: The time to ask that was last week, not after you’ve missed the deadline. I have the management breathing down my neck about this report. I’ve tried to stall them for the past two days and they’re not happy.

这种要求应该在上周提，而不是在你已经超过最后期限时说。我上面的老板为这个报告追我很多次了。过去的两次我都是在劝说他们，他们显然不太高兴。

A: I promise to have it on your desk by tomorrow morning. You have my word.

我保证明天一早就将报告送给你，我向你保证。

B: All right. I’ll give you until 9:00 a.m. tomorrow. I’m tired of taking the heat, though, and I don’t plan to do it any longer.

好，我最晚会等到明天上午九点。我已经对为此受上面指责厌烦了，所以我不希望再这样了。

A: You can count on me.

包在我身上吧。

B: Don’t let me down.

别让我失望。

A: I won’t.
