However, the current trend is to allow the body to treat these infections without the use of antibiotics, because the overuse of antibiotics has led to antibiotic resistant bacteria, and this is a big problem for us in the medical community.

　　So if a child has an ear infection, and isn't running a much of a fever, and isn't in very much pain, the current trend is not to treat, except with symptomatic therapy. That is to say something for the pain, and in effect be homeopathic, and let the body cure the ear infection.
