The picture presents the conflict between parents' expectations and the children's limited ability．Holding a pole high over their heads，the mom and dad expect their child to jump over it．The child，looking up at the unreachable pole，feels at a loss what to do．

My cousin has just met such a difficult situation．Propelled by his parents，he signed up for up to three extra-curriculum courses，ranging from math to piano lessons．This is really unbearable for a seven-year-old boy like him who should be enjoying the most worry-free years of his life．Much as they expect of their children，parents should not go to extremes．Firstly，each child is born with specific talents and the parents' job is to explore rather than destroy them．A boy with gifts in music will only be facing failure if he is forced to learn math．Improper or unreachable goal is actually preventing the child from tapping their potentials．Secondly，parents should be aware that learning is a gradual process，especially for children with little academic backgrounds．They must be patient and attentive．Finally，it is not necessary the case that a child with a head-start will maintain his edge for long．

It is understandable that all parents wish their children a bright future．However，they should take a closer look at the method they are using，and pause frequently to see if they are on the right track．
