At the heart of the lake Heaven makes the moon stay,

天教月到湖心住。

The long night grieves

遥夜一襟愁，

My long, long sleeves.

水风浑似秋。

In wind and water autumn looms.

藕花迎露笑，

Towards the dew smile lotus blooms.

暗水飞萤照。

On the dark stream

渔笛莫频吹，

But fireflies gleam.

客愁人不知。
