讽喻诗：《空心人》
《空心人》是托马斯.艾略特在1925年创作的作品，诗歌集中表现了西方人面对现代文明濒临崩溃、希望颇为渺茫的困境，以及精神极为空虚的生存状态。《空心人》中绝望的情绪十分明显：人是空心人，头脑里塞满了稻草，人的声音“完全没有意义，像风吹在干草上”，而整个世界将在“嘘”的一声中结束。空心人是失去灵魂的现代人的象征。
