母亲节英语诗歌二则

今天是母亲节，母亲节最早起源于古希腊，是每年的一月八日，在这一天古希腊人向希腊众神之母希布莉致敬，后来，在17世纪中叶，母亲节流传到英国，英国人把封斋期的第四个星期天作为母亲节。艾思口语老师从文献了解到，在这一天里，出门在外的年轻人将回到家中，给他们的母亲带上一些小礼物。再后来，安娜在美国的奔走呼吁下建立了现代意义的母亲节，在这一天，所有的孩子都向母亲表达深深地爱意。

母亲节是在中国港澳台地区流行起来之后才进入大陆的，名贵的珠宝，象征母爱的康乃馨，特制的爱心甜点，精致的手工贺卡等，成为人们向母亲敬献爱意的礼物。从80年代起，母亲节才在内地繁荣兴盛起来。特别从1988年开始，中国南方的广州等一些城市开始举办母亲节的庆祝活动，并把评选“好母亲”作为内容之一。其实在母亲眼里，爱不是传统意义上的珠宝翡翠，而是嘘寒问暖的体贴之心，十月怀胎，一朝分娩，含辛茹苦，养育成人，母亲之爱，我们该怎么报答呢?

母亲的爱

There is no love, like a mother's love,

no stronger bond on earth...

like the precious bond that comes from God,

to a mother, when she gives birth.

A mother's love is forever strong,

never changing for all time...

and when her children need her most,

a mother's love will shine.

God bless these special mothers,

God bless them every one...

for all the tears and heartache,

and for the special work they've done.

When her days on earth are over,

a mother's love lives on...

through many generations,

with God's blessings on each one.

Be thankful for our mothers,

for they love with a higher love...
