复星CEO：公司从未受到调查

Fosun International, the aggressive Chinese conglomerate that owns Club Med and Cirque du Soleil, reassured investors on Thursday that it was in good standing with regulators in China following a clampdown on private overseas dealmaking this year.

复星国际(Fosun International)周四向投资者保证该集团与中国监管机构关系良好，今年私企海外交易此前受到压制。复星是一家积极进取的中国企业集团，拥有地中海俱乐部(Club Med)和太阳马戏团(Cirque du Soleil)。

The company has complied with all regulations in China and overseas and has never been under investigation by authorities in China, chief executive Wang Qunbin told media.

复星首席执行官汪群斌对媒体表示，该公司遵守了国内外所有规定，且从未受到中国有关部门调查。

However, Mr Wang said regulators were monitoring some corporations with close ties to the financial sector.

但汪群斌也表示监管机构正在监察一些与金融部门有密切联系的公司。

“For the financial system for example, you have the insurance, banking and securities regulators going to banks, insurers and also some corporations regularly to do get an understanding,” he said, calling the activity normal.

汪群斌说：“比如像金融系统来讲有银监会、保监会、证监会，都会对它所监管对象包括银行、保险和企业作一些定期了解。”他表示该活动是常态。

Fosun has grabbed attention in recent years for it global dealmaking spree that has seen it buy up financial institutions in Europe and the US while also chasing deals for a pharmaceutical group in India and a margarine company in France.

But more recently the company and its flamboyant chairman Guo Guangchang are known to have attracted scrutiny from regulators unhappy with Chinese groups taking on high levels of debt to buy overseas assets.

Fosun has cut its leverage to appease investors and regulators. The company’s ratio of net debt to equity fell from 60.3 per cent at the end of last year to 47.4 per cent at the end of June, according to its half-year earnings report.

Profit attributable to shareholders climbed 33.6 per cent to Rmb5.86bn in the first half of the year compared with the same period last year.

In June, regulators asked banks to assess the level of lending they had extended to Fosun and three other acquisitive groups — HNA, Dalian Wanda and Anbang Insurance.

Mr Guo, who attended the meeting, has been plagued by talk of investigations by Chinese authorities.

He vanished in late 2015 only to return saying he had been assisting authorities with an investigation. Chatter swirled again in July concerning another alleged disappearance, sending the company’s shares falling. Those rumours proved false.
