To help him out without overwhelming him, jeweler Jean Dousset of Jean Dousset Diamonds says, "Let him know what you want [in terms of] diamond cut and design and then leave it up to him to surprise you as much as possible." If you can't have the carat weight of your dreams, focus on creating a setting you love instead. Paul Tacorian of Tacori says, "It's really about the design and the style of the ring. You want to get her a diamond that is beautiful, but the design is a representation of who she is and her personal style."
