1　ring up 意为“打电话”，多用于口语中，可以说ring up sb.或ring sb. up。

Ring me up later. 晚些时候给我打电话。

I'll ring you up when I've finished the work. 我做完工作后会给你打电话的。

2　telephone 作动词表示“打电话”，后接名词、代词、不定式或从句，也可用phone ，多用于口语中。telephone 和ring up 有时可换用。

You can telephone Paris from here. 你可以从这里往巴黎打电话。

He telephoned/phoned me this morning. 他今天早上给我打了电话。

She telephoned to say that she couldn't come. 她打电话说她不能来了。
