Competition for high grades seriously limits the quality of learning at all levels of education.

Write a response in which you discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the statement and explain your reasoning for the position you take. In developing and supporting your position, you should consider ways in which the statement might or might not hold true and explain how these considerations shape your position.

（4）我们如何定义教育的质量？是根据学生的成绩吗？是根据所学内容的多寡吗？还是根据学生对所学内容的应用能力？你觉得是否还有其他的指标？

（5）除了为取得高分而竞争这种促使学生努力学习的方法之外，你还能想到其他可能的方式方法吗？例如：鼓励学生在其他才艺和技能方面取得成绩等。

学生能从试图取得高分的努力中获益很多。如果放任不管，他们中的很多人可能不会严肃对待学业并主动复习功课。除此之外，不管结果如何，竞争都会驱使他们长时间集中注意力，把自己推到极限，并在此过程中学会处理压力。当他们进入职场时，这些都是能让他们获益最多的能力。

Students can benefit a lot from their endeavor to score high. If left alone, many of them would not pay serious attention to their study and to review their lessons actively. Besides, whatever the result may be, competition would drive them to stay focused for a long time, to push themselves to the limit and to learn to handle pressure during the process. These are the capacities they can benefit most from when they step into the workplace.
