A mother may forget her child,
一个母亲可能会忘记她的孩子，
While wolves devour it on the wild;—
当狼群在荒野中将要吞噬她时；——
Is this a Mother's Love?
这就是母爱吗？
Ten thousand voices answer, "No!"
成千上万的声音会说，“不是！”
Ye clasp your babes and kiss;
你们紧抱住你们的孩子并亲吻着；
Your bosoms yearn, your eyes o'erflow;
你心中的渴望从你的眼神中溢出
Yet, ah! remember this;—

The infant reared alone for earth,

Blest mother! who in Wisdom's path,

Thus taught her son to flee the wrath,

And know the fear of God:
