词组讲解

1. get the runaround **听到各种借口，受到推诿或搪塞，被骗

解 习语；词义溯源：得到［借口、推诿、搪塞、欺骗（runaround）］；give sb. the runaround表示“想方设法推诿”

例 You'll never find out who ordered the police to raid your building. If you inquire, you'll just get the runaround. They'll just send you from office to office and you'll never get the answer.

2. get the sack 〔ax〕 *被解雇；被拒绝
