词组讲解

1. get 〔have, take〕 one's hands off sb. or sth. / get one's hands off **放开,松手

解 习语;词义溯源:使得手[脱离、放开(off)];参照keep one's hands off sb. or sth.

例 Could you get your hands off my car? I told you I don't want my windows washed. Damn!These street people in this city are aggressive. They try intimidating visitors.

2. get 〔lay〕 one's hands on sb. or sth. / lay one's hands on **抓住,弄到手

解 〈口〉习语;词义溯源:使手处于某人或某物[上面(on)]

例 When I get my hands on the person who stole my cell phone, he'll wish he had never been born. I'm going to get physical !When I'm finished with him, his face will look like a combination pizza!

3. get 〔have〕 one's head above water **脱离困境,松一口气

解 习语;词义溯源:使头部[在水面上(above water)]

例 After our marriage, we spent a lot of money on our honeymoon and then furniture and things like that for the house. Of course we used credit cards. We never stopped to think that we'd have to pay for it all someday. It took us the next three years of getting by on a shoestring just to get our heads above water.

4. get one's just desserts **受到应有的赏罚

解 习语;词义溯源:得到[应得的、应有的(just)] [甜点(desserts)]

例 Capital punishment—you know—executions, may be a cruel way to punish a criminal, but I think anybody who murders is only getting his just deserts when the state sends him to his death.

5. get one's money's worth **划得来,物有所值

解 习语;词义溯源:得到[与支付金额相当的价值(money's worth)]

例 Honey, I know you want to get your money's worth, but do you have to lick the plate until it's clean? You're embarrassing me.
