经常看电影或是美剧的时候，总是会听到 ”there there” 这样的句子。
那它究竟是什么意思呢？
there 虽然是“那里”，但是千万别理解为让你看“那里那里”哦。

1.there, there≠那里那里
there, there. 好了好了


比如说有朋友心情不好，就会说跟对方说 there, there。在英语中，there, there 是用来安慰人的话，就相当于中文里的“好了好了没事的”。


There, there, you’ll be fine.
好啦好啦，会没事的。


2. now now≠现在现在
now now 行了，得了


和 there there 一样，now now 也可以用来安慰人，同样是“好了好了”的意思。不过在英式英语里，now now 还可以表示“得了吧”，表示不赞同、不相信别人的话。


Now, now, it's all right! There's no need to cry!
好啦，好啦！没有关系！没有必要哭呀！


Now now, you can’t be that busy.
得了吧，你不可能那么忙。


3.hush-hush≠嘘嘘
hush-hush /hʌʃ hʌʃ / 秘密的


hush 本身表示“嘘”，在口语里非常常见，让人安静的意思，就像一首英文歌中唱到：


Hush, little baby, don't say a word.
嘘，小宝宝，安静下来，不要说话。


两个 hush 中间还加上小连字符 -，就变成了形容词 hush-hush，意思是“秘密的、不公开的”，让人安静，就是让人不要说出去，保守秘密嘛。


They want me to keep everything hush-hush.
他们希望我对一切保密。


4.no-no≠不不
no-no 禁忌，绝不允许的事
一个 no 是“不行”的意思，那两个 no 在一起，加深语气，表示“绝对不行”的意思。no-no 是个名词，一般用作单数，不能加 s 哦。
You can’t smoke here. It’s a no-no.
你不能在这里抽烟，这时绝对不允许的。
