为方便燕郊在京工作人员往返两地，北京铁路局自1月12日起开行3趟燕郊站至北京站动车组临客列车。其中两趟是在早、晚高峰期间发车，给通勤族出行提供了便利。

Three bullet trains between Yanjiao, dubbed "town of sleep", and the capital went into operation on Monday, providing more options for the inter-city commuters.

“睡城”燕郊至北京的三组动车于周一正式开通运行，为燕郊“城际通勤族”提供了更多的选择。

“城际通勤族”可以用inter-city commuters表示，是指在城市之间乘坐交通工具往返上下班的人。Commuter(通勤族)指每天固定时间乘交通工具(汽车、火车、飞机)上下班的人。

中国高速列车网络不断扩大(expanding high-speed train network)，房价飙升(soaring property prices)，催生了大量“高铁通勤族”(high-speed train commuters)，即乘坐“子弹头”列车(bullet train)上下班的人。

京燕通勤动车的开通，为居住在燕郊，去北京工作的白领们(white-collar workers)提供了便利，同时也缓解了城市的交通压力(ease traffic woes)。中国铁路局近年也开通了许多线路以方便火车通勤族(train commuters)，如去年11月份开通的廊坊至北京南站开通“始发终到”高铁。
