一对企鹅深情厮守16载
据外媒18日报道，英国科学家的一项跟踪调查显示，一对生活在麦哲伦海峡区域的企鹅保持了16年的“夫妻”关系，打破了此前人们认为企鹅的“夫妻”关系最高为10年的纪录。
科学家在对5万只企鹅长达30年的跟踪调查发现，这对企鹅在过去16年内一直保持“夫妻”关系。它们还在这16年的冬季迁徙中，历经了近20万英里(约合32万公里)的旅程。
此前，科学家一般认为企鹅之间的“夫妻”关系最长能保持10年左右，因为企鹅在迁徙的过程，经常面临意外死亡等风险。
据悉，企鹅一直被认为是动物界在“夫妻”关系方面较为“忠贞”的动物之一，其它较为“忠贞”的动物还包括信天翁(albatross)、法国神仙鱼(French angelfish)、黑秃鹫 (black vultures)。
