Ellen: Afraid?
Newland: Of my coming to Washington.

影人聚焦：米歇尔·菲佛
米歇尔·菲佛(Michelle Pfeiffer，1958年4月29日出生)，出生于美国加利福尼亚圣安娜，美国著名电影女演员，蜜丝佛佗(Max Factor)代言人，1988年及1989分别以《危险游戏》和《一曲相思情未了》提名奥斯卡;1993 年以《爱之天》登上柏林国际电影节影后宝座，并三度提名奥斯卡。知名作品还有1992年《蝙蝠侠》里反派坏人猫女，近作是2007年的喜剧歌舞片《发胶星梦》里的反派角色，2007年并当选“好莱坞形象巡回代表”。菲佛拥有美丽的容貌、姣好的身材、成功的事业及幸福的婚姻。菲佛丽质天生的条件，加上她后天努力不懈的精神，也使得已经50多岁的她，完全没有被年龄所限制，一直稳占好莱坞一线女星的位置，并且总是被列在好莱坞制片商手中名单的前位。
1975年高中毕业时参加选美获胜成为“橘郡小姐”(Miss Orange County)，随后竞选洛杉矶小姐时被星探发掘，得以投身娱乐圈。米歇尔最初只能在电视影集中饰演一些乏味的小角色;1980年正式踏入影坛，首部作品《Falling in love again》不叫好又不叫座，她也未能引起观众的注意。直至82年的续集电影《油脂小子》(Grease 2)担正做女主角，可是因影片质素低下及经典电影《油脂》(Grease，1978)的珠玉在前，任凭她如何努力演出，也只有备受批评和获得“花瓶”的称号。
83年米歇尔·菲佛参加了大导演Brian De Palma的《疤面煞星》(Scarface，1983)的演出，片中饰演阿尔·帕西诺(Al Pacino)干掉黑帮老大后“抢”来的妻子，无论是角色原型还是米歇尔的演绎深度都让人有种头脑简单而空有外在美貌与气质的感觉，只是一个陪衬Al Pacino的闲角，难以让观众留下深刻印象，更加凸现其当时在影坛的“花瓶”形象。只是当时谁也想不到9年之后Michelle与Al Pacino再次合作了一部由《风月俏佳人》大导演Gary Marshall执导的《性·爱情·汉堡包》(Frankie & Johnny)，在演技上甚至比Al Pacino更获得肯定，得到金球奖喜剧类最佳女主角提名。
菲佛的演艺生涯起于小荧幕，她演过影集《Fantasy Island》，也同时接拍电视广告等等来补充收入，不过即使早年的菲佛跃上了大荧幕，也一样会被当成性感小猫在镜头前摆来摆去，并非如今日般会受到双面肯定。
1988年及1989年菲佛分别以《危险关系》及《一曲相思情未了》获得奥斯卡最佳女配角及女主角奖提名。1993年以《枪声响起》登上柏林影展后座。同年与电视制作人大卫·凯利结婚。
正如其他的美女一样，菲佛厌倦了别人只注意到她的容貌、当她是性感尤物般的崇拜，而期望能够在演技上力求突破。《危险关系》里纯真的伯爵夫人是一个起点，《一曲相思情未了》则是菲佛事业的转折点，片中菲佛不但卖弄她的美丽、性感，又唱又演的功夫才真是叫所有人对她改观。这两部片不但让菲佛展现了他的风情，同时更连续受到奥斯卡的提名，1993年的《枪声响起》让菲佛成为柏林影后及三度受到奥斯卡的提名，从此，米歇尔·菲佛不再是“花瓶”的代名词。
