轻音乐(LIGHT MUSIC)
指介于古典音乐和流行音乐之间的一种通俗音乐形式。轻音乐以通俗方式诠释乐曲，其来源可以是原创，也可以是对古典音乐、流行音乐或者民谣进行改编而成。轻音乐一般以小型乐队加以演奏，结构简单、节奏明快、旋律优美。轻音乐可以营造温馨浪漫的情调，带有休闲性质，因此又得名“情调音乐”(Mood Music)。轻音乐起源于一战后的英国，在20世纪中后期达到鼎盛，在二十世纪末渐被新纪元音乐取代，但时至今日尚有一定影响力。
轻音乐的特点有：
娱乐性
音乐同其他艺术一样，都是寓教于乐的。而轻音乐的娱乐性特点表现得更为突出，可以说，轻音乐是运用它特有的轻快、轻松、轻巧、轻盈，还有轻型的特色来充分发挥它的娱乐功能的。
通俗性
轻音乐作品一般篇幅不大，结构简明，没有什么复杂的戏剧情节。它的音乐通俗、浅显、易懂。因此，欣赏轻音乐比欣赏交响乐要容易得多。
生活化
轻音乐不仅在内容上大都为人们所熟悉,而且它的欣赏过程也比较随便，可以在剧场这种正式场合，也可以在公园、饭店、舞会、茶座、商店里欣赏。至于在家里，那就更随意了。它具有现代生活气息的节奏、韵律和音色特点，是伴你休闲、旅游、进餐、入梦的很好的朋友。(来源：百度百科)
