英国科学家公布小行星撞地球损失最惨国家名单

据英国《每日电讯报》报道，英国南安普顿大学研究人员日前使用软件列出一份在地球遭遇小行星撞击的情况下损失最为惨重的国家的名单，其中部分国家将 面临严重的人员伤亡，而另外一些国家的基础设施则会损毁严重以致无法恢复国力。上榜的国家包括印度尼西亚、日本、印度、美国、菲律宾、意大利、英国、巴 西、瑞典和尼日利亚，而中国也被列入其中。

本周早些时候，一颗房屋般大小的小行星与地球“擦肩而过”，距地表不到7500英里（约合1.2万公里）。随后，英国南安普顿大学的研究人员根据美国国家航空航天局近地物体项目提供的数据，使用一个名为NEOimpactor的软件，列出了这份名单。

 

在遭到小行星撞击时，人口众多的国家必将遭受巨大的人员伤亡。因此，名单中包括了美国、中国、印尼、印度和日本等人口大国。此外，由于加拿大及瑞典等发达国家的基础设施可能因小行星撞击而完全损毁，因此这些国家也被排在榜单前列。

南安普顿大学的研究员尼克·贝利是NEOimpactor软件的发明者，他说：“小行星撞击地球已经逐渐被公认为是人类面临的最大自然灾难，其带来的后果将是毁灭性的。”

1908年6月30日，一颗巨大的火球划过天空，落在俄罗斯西伯利亚森林的通古斯卡河畔，引发大爆炸，超过2150平方公里内的6000万棵树被焚毁。贝利称这次事件表明，小行星撞击地球带来的灾难性后果是惊人的。

“倘若类似的爆炸发生在伦敦，伦敦市区的所有人员和建筑都将顷刻化为乌有。我们在清单上列出了因小行星撞击而损失最为惨重的国家，主要是想提醒这些上榜国家做好应对灾难的准备，”贝利说。

小行星被普遍看做是45亿年前太阳系形成时的副产品。几十亿年以来，小行星以及它们的碎片陨石不断“光临”地球。一些科学家认为，大约6500万年前，一颗直径10公里的小行星曾撞击地球，致使恐龙这个物种从地球上消失。
