Emilia: Jack? Hi. He does? Uh, where are you? Hey, Will. What's up?

Jack: Well, his mother's getting married today. And he wouldn't leave the house without me, and now he won't go inside without you.

Emilia: Let me guess. When I moved out three weeks ago, did you think your dad was gonna move back in with your mom?

William: Sort of. Since you were done being married, they could be done being divorced.

Emilia: But it's not working out that way, is it? She's marrying somebody else.

William: Yeah.

Emilia: That's hard. Not everything works out the way you hope. What can you do? Will, help me out here, bud. Why'd you ask to see me? I would have thought I'd be the last person you'd want to see.

William: Well, Sonia's in New Jersey. But she's not family. And I figured, you're my sister's mom. And that's family. Right?

Emilia: I will always be your sister's mom.

William: Then how come you don't live with us anymore?

Emilia: Well, because... I don't belong with you guys. It's like Lyle the Crocodile. Lyle doesn't belong in an apartment. He belongs with all the other crocodiles at the Central Park Zoo.

William: There are no crocodiles there, only caimans.

Emilia: It's a metaphor, William. You know metaphors. What I'm trying to say is, I'm sort of like Lyle. You know, I don't belong with you and your dad, 'cause, you know, my teeth are too sharp and my tail is too long.

William: But Lyle does so belong with his family. They love him, even though he's a crocodile, even when he's not always the nicest or not so good with children.

Emilia: Lyle was always nice to children.

William: It's a metaphor, Emilia.

Emilia: Thanks, Will. It's a really good one.

Jack: So what do you say, Will? You ready to do this?

Emilia: Let's not ruin her day, okay? Not bad. I mean, you look miserable, but not bad. That's what I shoot for.

Jack: Come on.

Carolyn: She'll hold our time, won't she?

Carolyn's husband: I'm sure.

Carolyn: Oh, thank God. What happened? Why is Emilia here? Never mind. Let's go. We're late. We were due in Judge Jody's chambers ten minutes ago. We have to run.

Jack: Thank you.

Emilia: Anytime.

Jack: What are you doing now?

Emilia: Getting fired, probably. I've been working at Simon's legal aid thing. It's day six, and I've been AWOL twice.

Jack: I meant- I thought maybe we could have dinner or take a walk or something.

Emilia: Are we allowed?

Jack: Yeah. We are.

纽约中央公园

中央公园号称纽约“后花园”，以第59大街（59th St.）、第110大街(110th St.)、5路(5th Ave.)、中央公园西部路(Central Park West)围绕着，中央公园名副其实地坐落在纽约曼哈顿岛的中央，是一块完全人造的自然景观，里面有浅绿色草地、树木郁郁的小森林、庭院、溜冰场、回转木 马、露天剧场、两座小动物园，可以在湖面泛舟，还有网球场、运动场、美术馆等等。 　　

公园里的草莓园(Strawberry Fields)是纪念约翰·列侬的和平公园，在这里可以见到世界各地的奇异花卉。人们经常可以在电影以及电视剧里看见中央公园，如电影《爱情故事 （Love Story）》等。1857年，纽约市的决策者在这座城市里预留了公众使用的绿地，为忙碌紧张的生活提供了一个悠闲的场所，公园四季皆美，春天嫣红嫩绿、 夏天阳光璀璨、秋天枫红似火、冬天银白萧索。

主要景点

如果以尺寸来考量，中央公园动物园 (Center Park Zoo) 比起布朗斯动物园 (The Bronx Zoo) ，可能稍微迷你了一点，但是，如果你带着小朋友在周末出来野餐，这里刚好足够消磨一家人的悠闲时光。 　　

园内约可区分为海狮表演区 (The Central Sea Lion Pool) 、极圈区 (Polar Curcle) 和热带雨林区 (Tropic Zone) 。 　　

其中，海狮表演区是最受大家欢迎的。全身光滑油亮的海狮在水池内悠游自在的嬉戏，偶尔心情好时，就爬到假山上搔首弄姿，让旁边的观光客尖叫连连，每天分不同的时段喂食，工作人员会走入水池内，把桶内的小鱼丢给海狮，然而便看到庞大的海狮们灵敏地接住每只鱼。 　　

另一个令人惊喜的区域是极圈区，可以看到小企鹅住在仿真的北极圈内，小企鹅在水里“啪啦！啪啦！”地拍着短脚，隔着玻璃，几乎可以碰触到这个住在地球顶端的可爱小东西，还可以看到他们像不倒翁一样“噗！”地从冰上跳入水里。 　　

这里最大的卖点是北极熊，全身雪白的北极熊在仿真的山谷流水间走动，观光客在上面隔着安全玻璃往里看，那么庞大凶猛的野兽，却彷佛可爱笨重的玩具，特别是那些外国小朋友用童稚的声音念着“ Polar Bear ”，好像那只毛茸茸的熊只是个填充玩具。 　　

热带雨林区内则设有一处小小的热带雨林，栽植了各种形貌多样的热带植物与花卉。
