Patrice: Oh, my God! I told you that this was a pajama party. What are you wearing? What is this? You're wearing actual long johns?

Emma: What?!

Patrice: This is a frat party. You just have to be drunk and look hot. Watch and learn. Hey. Hey! I'm so drunk!

Adam: Hey, do you know that girl?

Eli: The sexy pioneer?

Adam: I think I know her.

Eli: I'd have sex with a pioneer. For sure. A hungry pioneer lost on the trail.

Adam: Do I know you?

Emma: Hi, Adam Franklin of Camp Weehawken. I'm Emma Kurtzman. You tried to finger me?

Adam: Yeah. Wow! Do you go here? Why? What are you doing at a party of frat?

Emma: No. I go to MIT, but I have this family thing, and I grew up in Ann Arbor.

Adam: MIT? Wow. So you grew up to be a lot smarter than me.

Emma: Yeah, sometimes my neck gets sore.

Adam: Why? -

Emma: 'Cause my brain's so big.

Adam' friend: I agree, it didn't work. Drop it.

Adam: I like you.

Emma: What? Why? You don't even know me.

Adam: I like you.

Emma: I have to go to this stupid thing tomorrow. You wanna come with me?

Adam: Yeah, sure. I'll come with you. What is it?

Emma: Some stupid thing.

David's colleague: I wanted to leave you with something David said to me almost every day at the lab. It's Einstein. "There are only two ways to live your life. One, as if nothing is a miracle. The other, as if everything is a miracle."For David, there was no bigger miracle than his family. His daughters, Emma and Katie, and his wife, Sandra.

Emma: Mom? I want you to meet Adam.

Adam: I'm so sorry.

Emma: And this is my sister, Katie, and her lover, Kevin. Boyfriend. And my best friend.

Mom: Oh, well... thank you. I didn't know you were dating someone, Emma.

Emma: Oh, I'm not. I just had a one-night stand with him when I was 14.

Adam: It was a really nice funeral. I'm sorry.

Emma: I'm glad you stayed.

Adam: Me too. So, I'll call you, or something...

Emma: Adam, you're wonderful. If you're lucky, you're never gonna see me again.

*** *** *** *** *** ***

Patrice: Did we? Yes, we did. We went to college together. You have two gay dads.

Eli: Yeah, I'm the man with the two gay dads.

Patrice: They helped me move my boxes sophomore year.

Adam's friend: They're the best. I love them. I'm super straight, though. So, yeah.

Patrice: OK.

Eli: You're Patrice, right?

Patrice: Yes.

Eli: Yeah, Eli. I'm with... Adam!

Adam: I'll be right back. Pick up some of that kettle corn.

Eli: It's Patrice.

Adam: Patrice! Hey!

Patrice: How are you? Weird.

Adam: I haven't seen you in... wow. How are you?

Patrice: Good.

Emma: Adam.

Adam: Emma.

Eli: What is this, the Peach Pit? And, yeah, that was a 90210 reference.

Patrice: Yeah, you're super straight.

Adam: What are you doing here?

Emma: I just moved here a week ago. I'm doing my residency at the Westwood Teaching Hospital.

Adam: Vanessa, this is Emma. Emma, Vanessa.

Vanessa: Hi. How do you do?

Adam: This is our friend, Patrice.

Vanessa: Hi. How do you do?

Patrice: How do I what?

Vanessa: Hi, you look nice.

Katie: It's nice to meet you.

Emma: You remember my sister, Katie. She's just finishing school here.

Adam: Yeah. I haven't seen you guys since...

Emma & Katie: Yeah, Dad's funeral.

Vanessa: Sad.

Emma: OK. Well, we should head out, so...

Adam: Yeah, we should, too. You know...But we should hang out. Let me just... I'll get your number.

Emma: Yeah, just give me your phone. I'll put it in there.

Adam: Yeah, that's probably easier.

Vanessa: We really have to be somewhere now, so...

Adam: Yeah. We should...

Emma: Totally. Totally.

Adam: All right, well, good to hang out. Good seeing you guys. Take care.[page]

1. pajama party:

No Strings Attached《
