1. piss somebody off: 使生气，使厌烦。也可用作命令词，意思是“立即走开，滚开”，如：piss off!

生日蛋糕知多少

中古时期的欧洲人相信，生日是灵魂最容易被恶魔入侵的日子，所以在生日当天，亲人朋友都会齐聚身边给予祝福，并且送蛋糕以带来好运驱逐恶魔。生日蛋糕，最初是只有国王才有资格拥有的，流传到现在，不论是大人或小孩，都可以在生日时，买个漂亮的蛋糕，享受众人给予的祝福。

最早的蛋糕是用几样简单的材料做出来的，这些蛋糕是古老宗教神话与奇迹式迷信的象征。早期的经贸路线使异国香料由远东向北输入，坚果、花露水、柑橘类水果、枣子与无花果从中东引进，甘蔗则从东方国家与南方国家进口。　

在欧洲黑暗时代，这些珍奇的原料只有僧侣与贵族才能拥有，而他们的糕点创作则是蜂蜜姜饼以及扁平硬饼干之类的东西。慢慢地，随着贸易往来的频繁，西方国家的饮食习惯也跟着彻底地改变。 　　

从十字军东征返家的士兵和阿拉伯商人，把香料的运用和中东的食谱散播开来。在中欧几个主要的商业重镇，烘焙师傅的同业公会也组织了起来。而在中世纪末，香料已被欧洲各地的富有人家广为使用，更增进了想象力丰富的糕点烘焙技术。等到坚果和糖大肆流行时，杏仁糖泥也跟着大众化起来，这种杏仁糖泥是用木雕的凸版模子烤出来的，而模子上的图案则与宗教训诫多有关联。 　

 

 

蛋糕最早起源于西方，后来才慢慢的传入中国。

婚礼蛋糕，据传最早出现在古罗马时代。蛋糕一词则出自英语，其原意是扁圆的面包。同时也意味着“快乐幸福”之意。古代时富家子弟举办婚礼时，都要做一只特制的蛋糕，不仅在婚宴上新郎新娘一起吃，而且也请来贺喜的客人们吃蛋糕。客人们期望自己也能分享新婚夫妇的幸福。因此，那时蛋糕是放在新娘头上被切开的。在欧洲被邀请参加婚礼的客人还有这样一个习惯：把各自带来的放了香料的面包高高地堆在桌子上，让新郎新娘在“面包山”的两侧，隔山交吻。这时的面包山也象征着幸福。最初蛋糕的做法与面包没有什么两样，把牛奶与面粉揉在一起做成扁圆形就是蛋糕了。现在婚礼蛋糕则做得越来越考究和豪华了。

插蜡烛的习俗据传源于希腊。在古希腊，人们都信奉月亮女神阿耳特弥斯。在她的一年一度的生日庆典上，人们总要在祭坛上供放蜂蜜饼和很多点亮着的蜡烛形成一片神圣的气氛，以示他们对月亮女神的特殊的崇敬之情。后来，随着时间的推移，由于疼爱孩子，古希腊人在庆祝他们孩子的生日时，也总爱在餐桌上摆上糕饼等物，而在上面，又放上很多点亮的小蜡烛，并且加进一项新的活动——吹灭这些燃亮的蜡烛。他们相信燃亮着的蜡烛具有神秘的力量，如果这时让过生日的孩子在心中许下一个愿望，然后一口气吹灭所有蜡烛的话，那么这个孩子的美好愿望就一定能够实现。于是吹蜡烛成为生日宴上有着吉庆意义的小节目，以后逐渐地发展到不论是在孩子还是成人甚至老年人的生日晚会或宴会上都有吹蜡烛这个有趣的活动。（来源：百度百科）
