1.giddy: 晕眩的，眼花的。影片中Green是指恋爱会让一个女人失去理智，头脑不清。giddy也可以指身体感觉到的晕眩。例如：It makes me giddy to go on a merry-go-round.（我骑旋转木马要头晕。）giddy也可以指“轻率的，轻佻的，轻浮的”，例如：a giddy young girl（轻佻的年轻姑娘）。

钻石为什么昂贵

 

钻石之所以被人类称之为“宝石之王”，并成为最昂贵的宝石品种，除与钻石本身具有魅力的品质有关外，还与钻石矿床的探测、加工等有着密切的关系。

1．钻石固有的内在魅力品质

作为宝石，必须具备美丽、耐久和稀少这三大要素。钻石是唯一一种集最高硬度，强折射率和高色散于一体的宝石品种，任何其它宝石品种都是不可比拟的。这样的宝中之宝，稀中之罕，理所应当地成为贵中之最了。

2．钻石文化源远流长

自古以来，钻石一直被人类视为权力、威严、地位和富贵的象征。其坚不可摧、攻无不克、坚贞永恒和坚毅阳刚的品质，是人类永远追求的目标。它具有潜在的、巨大的文化价值。

3．钻石矿床探寻艰难，耗资巨大

钻石矿床的寻找，并不像传说中的那样，不小心摔一跤就能发现一个钻石矿床。钻石矿床的探寻往往要花上几十年，甚至上百年的努力和劳动，耗资巨大。如原苏联西伯利亚原生金刚石矿床的探寻，从1913年开始，历经了18年的艰辛，才得以发现；博茨瓦纳的“欧拉”原生矿床，耗资3200万美元，历经12年的奋斗才挖掘出来；近几年，在加拿大西北部发现的金刚石原生矿床，则是经历了几代地质学家的艰苦努力，耗资至少达几亿美元才找到的。

4．金刚石矿床数量少，宝石级金刚石矿床品位低

世界金刚石矿床的数量，如果与铁、铜和金矿数量相比的话，可以说是少得可怜，屈指可数。在开采出的金刚石中，平均只有20％达到宝石级，而其余80％只能用于工业。但这 20％宝石级金刚石的价值却相当于80％工业金刚石的5倍之多。世界金刚石年产量约为10000万克拉，宝石级约为1500万克拉，而加工成钻藏宝图网 钻石石的约为400万克拉(相当于800千克)。

有人粗略统计发现，要得到1克拉(0.2克)已打磨好的钻石，需要挖掘约250吨矿石。

5．开采的规模浩大、难度极高

钻石矿床的开采，可以说是一件规模巨大，却又细心备至的工作。开采过程中，既需充分开采含有钻石的矿石，又要谨小慎微，以确保矿石中钻石原石颗粒完好无损。开采不当会导致经济的巨大损失。不论是露天开采，还是地下挖掘，都是一项声势和场面浩大的工程，人力物力的投入是难以想象的。

6．钻石加工程序复杂，工时量大

对开采出的矿石经精心破碎和分选后，并不像其它金属矿床一样，即可投入大批量的冶炼，而是要对每一粒钻石毛坯进行逐粒精心细致的分析，才能确定下切磨方案，以确保其重量、净度和款式。这往往需要对钻石本身物理光学性质有充分了解、经验相当丰富的人员来进行。一般步骤是：设计标线；劈钻；锯钻；车钻；磨钻；清洗分级。而这每一步骤中还包括了许许多多的小程序。每一小步都需要精湛的工艺技术和丰富的经验。就拿世界之最的库利南钻石来说，原石重3106克拉，三个经验丰富、技艺超群的工匠，每天工作14小时，共耗时8个月，才将它分割成4颗大钻和101颗小钻。有些世界著名钻石的加工，往往仅设计都要花费几个月，甚至1—2年的时间。

7．到消费者手中，一颗钻石的经历繁多

据有人初步统计，一颗钻石，从它的开采、分选、加工、分级、销售，到最后卖到购买者手中，约涉及200多万人，一枚钻戒是天然造物主和200多万人心血的结晶，钻石的无比珍贵也就是在其中。
