Lang: I couldn't put that in. People would think I was a complete idiot.

Ghost writer: No, not at all. No, this shows what it's like being Prime Minister. That's exactly what the readers want to know. How does it feel to run a country? How does it feel to be so cut off? How does it feel to be so hated?

唐宁街10号

唐宁街10号（10 Downing Street），位于英国首都伦敦威斯敏斯特区白厅旁的唐宁街，是一所乔治风格建筑物。传统上是首席财政大臣的官邸，但自从此职由首相兼领后，就成为今日普遍认为的英国首相官邸。其设计朴实的黑色木门，缀上白色的阿拉伯数字“10”，成为了人所共知的标记。

象征意义

唐宁街10号除了是首相的官邸和首相的办公室外，首相的秘书、助理和顾问都在首相官邸内工作。首相每天都会在唐宁街10号与阁僚和智囊制定政策，而一般的机要部门，如国会、财政部和外务部距唐宁街10号也只有数分钟的路程，所以首相很容易便能够取得情报和联系。另外，君主所居住的白金汉宫就在附近，好让首相定期前往白金汉宫，向君主汇报政事。首相官邸内有不同的会议室和晚宴厅，首相会常常在那里接见社会各界和各国领导人。因此，唐宁街10号象征英国政府的中枢、也是英国政治的权力核心之一。

不足之处
