  abroad是副词,其前不可置介词,但from abroad例外,如:My dad is fresh from abroad.(我爸爸刚从国外回来。)

  go abroad是指(措机)“出国”的动作,此时保持联络不合情理。be abroad指人“在国外”时的状态,此时保持联络才合情合理。

  absent表“缺席的/不在的”时,一般不直接修饰名词,大多接在be动词之后。two students absent即two students who are absent的省略形式。不过在英式用法中,absent可直接修饰少数的几个名词,如:He is an absent father.(他是一个经常不在家的父亲。—即他是一个不称职的父亲。)这句话的美式说法是:He is an absentee father。
