1什么是双重所有格

　　所谓双重所有格就是指将 –’s 所有格与of所有格结合起来一起使用。如：

　　a friend of my father’s

　　我父亲的一位朋友

　　a photo of Mr Smith’s

　　史密斯先生的一张照片

　　that son of Jim’s

　　吉姆的那个儿子

　　出现双重所有格的情况，主要是因为在一个名词前通常只能用一个限定词，例如在son一词之前，我们不能同时使用that和Jim’s两个限定词，即不能说Jim’s that son，而只可说that son of Jim’s。

　　2双重所有格用法注意事项

　　(1) 受双重所有格修饰的名词通常不能是专有名词或具有独一无二性质的名词，如不说a father of Mary’s，可改说Mary’s father。

　　(2) 受双重所有格修饰的名词通常不能带定冠词，但可带指示代词this, that, these或those，表示某种感情色彩(如赞赏、厌恶等)，如不说the masterpiece of Tom’s，但可说 this / that masterpiece of Tom’s。

　　(3) 双重所有格中带-’s所有格的名词通常应是确指的，如不说 a brother of a friend’s，但可说 a friend of my friend’s。

　　(4) 双重所有格中带-’s所有格的名词通常应是有生命的，如不说a window of the room’s，应改为a window of the room。
