Trafigura also issued a statement on the same day, saying that no vessels of the group are currently sailing in the Gulf of Aden, and that the group will continue to carefully assess the risks involved in any voyage, including the safety and security of crew, ship owners and customers.

The U.S. military's Central Command says the tanker issued a distress call on Friday and reported damage.
