1. killed in action: 在战事中阵亡。

2. posthumously: 于死后。

3. manifestation: 表现；表现形式。例如：Fever is one manifestation of a cold.（发烧是受凉的一种表现。）

4. deviate from: 脱离（正轨），偏离。例如：deviate from the principle（违背原则）。

5. continuum: 连续体。

6. sanction: 认可；批准。请看例子：The church would not sanction his second marriage.（教会不会认可他的第二次婚姻。）

7. immaterial: 不重要的，无关紧要的。看一下例子：It is immaterial to me whether he stays or leaves.（他的去留对我无所谓。）

8. terminate: 使停止，使结束；使终止。
