1. molar: 臼齿；磨牙。
2. screw up: 搞砸。
3. on the rocks: 加冰块（但不加水）的。例如：At the restaurant, she ordered orange juice on the rocks.（在餐馆里，她叫了一杯加冰块的桔子汁。）
on the rocks也可以表示“（关系或生意）陷于困境，濒临崩溃”。看一下例子：Their marriage has been on the rocks for a couple of months.（他们的婚姻触礁好几个月了，已经濒于破裂。）
on the rocks还有“拮据，破产”的意思。例如：By the time I've paid all the bills I owe I shall be on the rocks.（等我付完了所有的欠帐，我就身无分文了。）
4. be stuck with: 无法摆脱。看一下例子：I'm stuck with this problem.（我被这个问题缠住了。）
5. distinguish...from: 把……与……区别开。例如：Could you distinguish fear from cowardice?（你能够区分恐惧和胆小怯懦吗？）
6. cursory: 粗略的；仓促的。影片中琪琪认为艾利克斯不能单凭草草看一眼就断定那个男人不喜欢那个女人。
7. macrobiotic: 延年益寿的，养生饮食的（吃未经化学品助长的全谷和蔬菜）。
8. fortuitous: 巧合的。
9. feed off sth.: 以……为食。请看例子：The bigger newspapers often feed off stories in the smaller papers.（大报纸常刊登从小报上摘选的新闻故事。）
10.mediocre: 平庸的；二流的。
11. thrive on sth.: 以某事为乐，因某事而有成（尤指别人不喜欢的事物）。看一下例子：I stuck it in a pot and forgot about it, but the plant, far from dying, seemed to thrive on neglect.（我把它插进花盆后便忘了这件事，但这株植物非但没有死，似乎还因被忽略而长得很茁壮。）
12. pore: （皮肤上的）毛孔。
13. implant: （植入人体中的）移植物，植入物。这里指的是隆胸手术里的乳房植入物。影片中艾利克斯让琪琪向他学习，如果他遇到的女孩不喜欢他，他根本无所谓，因为像她那样的女孩多的是，他也许还会找到一个皮肤更嫩、胸更大的女孩。艾利克斯把女人物化的同时，也把自己物化了。
14. doodle: （尤指厌烦或心不在焉时）乱涂，胡写乱画。
15. binder: 活页簿；活页夹。
16. basset hound: 矮腿猎犬。
