kick the bucket可不是“踢水桶”的意思，真实含义是“死掉，一命呜呼”。相传，在中古时期，对犯人执行绞刑时，死犯就站在桶上面，脖子被套上套索。行刑的人把水桶踢掉，死犯就会去世了。所以这句习语就引申为这个意思啦。
